As part of a grant awarded from the Town of Oakville, I created a series of 8 paintings for their Community Spirit Awards. These awards portrayed vignettes of how everyday community actions and annual events can help to create positive community changes. Ranging in size from 8″ x 10″ to 9″ x 12″, these acrylic paintings reflected themes of Leadership, Good Neighbour, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Diversity, Climate Action, Equity and Inspiration. Based on local scenes in Bronte Creek, Morrison Creek, Sovereign House, Tannery Park and Bronte Provincial park they portrayed the range of multiculturalism, diversity of ages and abilities that make up the Oakville community. The deserving award winners received their painting awards at a ceremony Thursday June 6 at Queen Elizabeth Park Cultural Centre in Oakville, Ontario.
